Project Description

Our project goal is to help individuals, businesses and communities see the value in waste reduction practices. The current leaders team worked with the Salon de Elephant, a Green Circle Certified salon, to help them create eco-friendly alternative products and showcase their waste-free initiatives: turning chemical waste into new forms of energy and hair clippings into blooms for oil spill cleanups. The team also worked with the salon on a client-engagement strategy to help all those in the salon ecosystem rethink wasteful beauty routines. The team will be implementing the use of Terracycle boxes at the salon and in other forward-thinking businesses, with the ultimate goal of creating zero waste systems. The team is working with the City of Markham to spread these success stories more broadly, with the goal of creating a ripple effect across their community.
